Welcome to Brush Hour: A Creative Pause in a Busy World
Hello and welcome to Brush Hour—your invitation to slow down, pick up a paintbrush (or pencil, pastel, crayon—whatever you’ve got!), and reconnect with yourself through simple, soothing art.
This is not about being “good” at art. This is about showing up, making marks, playing with colour, and letting creativity do what it does best: help you breathe a little deeper, feel a little lighter, and tune back in to you.
What is Brush Hour?
Brush Hour is a little corner of the internet filled with mindful painting exercises, art therapy-inspired prompts, and creative activities you can do at home—whether you’ve got five minutes or a whole slow afternoon to spare.
Some of the exercises lean into the therapeutic side of art—calming your nervous system, exploring emotion, finding flow through repetition or colour. Others are just playful and fun, designed to spark joy and help you get out of your head.
I'll also be sharing links to creative resources I love, whether it’s a beautiful tutorial, an inspiring prompt, or a printable that made my day better. This is a space to collect and share inspiration, and help more people to lean into creativity for joy and wellbeing, one brushstroke at a time.
For Artists, Non-Artists & Everyone In Between
You don’t need to be “creative.” You don’t need fancy supplies or loads of time. If you’ve got a scrap of paper, a pen, and a little curiosity—you’re ready. If you like to paint at the weekend, it's for you. If you haven't paints art since school, it's for you too.
Brush Hour is for everyone. It’s for tired minds, busy hearts, overthinkers, dreamers, and total beginners. It’s for people who used to make art but haven’t in years. It’s for people who’ve never tried but always wanted to. It’s for you.
Come as you are. Leave a little lighter.
Let’s Create Together
One of the most beautiful parts of art is how it connects us. So if you try an exercise and it brings you joy, calm, or clarity—or if you simply make something you like—I’d love to hear about it. Share your thoughts in the comments, post a photo of what you made, or just tell me what the experience was like.
This is your creative pause button in the middle of life’s chaos. A moment to brush, breathe, and come back to yourself.
So, grab your materials (whatever they are), find a quiet(ish) spot, and stay awhile.
Welcome to Brush Hour.
