I stumbled across this great TED TALK on art therapy with the wonderful Laurence Vandenborre.
An eye opening watch and a great way to spend 14 minutes.
Arts therapy is a unique non-verbal therapeutic modality to heal the past and envision a new life of joy and hope. Drawing, music, dance and movement, drama play are all sensitive, soothing and yet powerful ways of letting go of difficult or overwhelming experiences to prepare a new path of self-confidence and empowerment to fulfil a life to be proud of, for oneself and for the community around. When words are inadequate or impossible to convey our emotions and life experiences, the gentle approaches and care of an arts therapist will reassure that there is no dead end in life and, one drawing at a time, everyone can be the hero of one’s life. This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community. Learn more at https://www.ted.com/tedx
I'm going to keep a look out for more videos like this to share here, and add to the usefulness of the Mind Matters blog.
