Something Exciting Is Coming In 2026
Share
I have some big exciting news to share.
Birdy & Bright is nearly a year old. Can you believe it? That's not the news though.
I started wanting to sell art. That quickly evolved into wanting to help people explore creativity as a means to help connect with themselves, and improve their mental health and wellbeing. That became the primary focus, and there are now tonnes of articles and art exercises in the Mind Matters and Brush Hour blogs, funded by selling art...which became more of a sideline.
To get things started, I went down the route of print on demand. I create designs, that when ordered get printed and shipped to the customer from a nearby print shop.
This felt right at the time, but after the last year I'm coming to realise that for what I do and how I want to connect with people, there's a hollowness to it that doesn't work for me. There's no real craft on my part. I want to be making art with my hands. I want to send it with written notes and extra surprises, and make each parcel a delightful, exciting thing that feels like a present from a loved one when it's opened.
So, I've been playing with linocut prints. I've found my process, I've got several print ideas ready to go. I've invested in the materials, and from early next year I'm going to start selling my prints in the shop.
It's taken a while to find the right process. I'll talk about that in more detail later. I can tell you they are going to be limited, numbered runs, and each one will be unique.
I'm telling you this now to make it happen. It's pretty scary putting yourself out there, and this way I can't back out. I was hoping to get everything ready to go in time for Christmas pressies but alas, time is not on my side. It will be worth the wait though. I promise.
Once I am ready, I will be offering a presale to those signed up to my newsletter, and my buymeacoffeesupporters. So, if you're keen, make sure you're signed up to get the news first.
I am also going to start pulling some of the current print on demand designs to neaten things up a bit, so if there is anything you had your eye on, now would be a good time to buy.
I am also working on several more articles and will keep that content coming, as well as the youtube channel I am dillydallying with, but that will get there in it's own time.
Thanks for the support, is always :)
